Our unique in-house dental laboratory provides the very finest in dental technology and artistry. As one of the only in-house dental labs in Pittsburgh, we can offer our patients a full range of services, as well as faster service and the highest quality products.

We are able to meticulously supervise the progress of your case as it flows through the laboratory process. We have complete control over the techniques, the material and the quality. The combination of leading edge technology and very talented technicians assures that the service we extend to you is the finest quality available

Using a state-of-the-art porcelain oven, this technician is firing porcelain to make it tooth colored. Once he has the desired color, the porcelain is vitrified in the oven to become a tooth. A computer component in the equipment automates and controls the process. The use of computers has changed -- and improved -- a lot of processes in dental labs.

Laboratory Manager Charles Winter has been a dental technician with Miller, Werrin and Gruendel for 35 years. At this station he makes fixed crowns, bridges and glass composite restorations. Here he is making a gold crown. He designs the crown in wax and casts it in a furnace. While composite onlays and inlays are increasingly popular, Charles says that he has been working with gold for 30 years and he thinks it is the best material.

At this technical workstation, another dental technician is involved in precision metal work and waxing. It is uncommon for a dental practice to have an in-house lab, and our lab is more leading edge and better equipped than most.

The prep department uses skill and precision to make dentures. Veteran technician Charles Green is shown here diligently fabricating the highest quality dental work.

At this workstation, Brandon Trice uses a surveyor to help build a removable prosthesis. At the same station, the microscope is used by technicians to check the quality of the restorations made in the lab. Charles Winter classifies the lab as a "boutique lab," adding that with a limited amount of space and personnel the innovative dental lab provides a full range of services.
